Our friends at Bible Society are presenting a garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in September based on Psalm 23, ‘The Lord is my shepherd’. The idea for the banquet comes from Psalm 23:5, where the psalmist says, ‘You prepare a banquet before me in the presence of my enemies.’
The Psalm 23 banquet will be launching on 25 June during Bible Society’s Re-imagining Mission webinar from 10-11am after the National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast and then all the resources will be available on the Psalm 23 Garden website. Our Joint CEO Emily Holden will also be speaking at the webinar, please come and support her.
Bible Society have partnered with Welcome Churches to encourage churches and individuals to host community banquets expressing hope and joy in the face of the challenges that have faced us during the pandemic. Our ‘enemies’ might be fear, isolation, loneliness, lost opportunities, financial pressures, among other things, but God still wants to bless us. Bible Society have developed resources for hosts including invitation cards, posters, and prayers and other resources to use during the meal.
“Our towns, cities and villages have been surrounded by darkness, difficulty and challenge. In this moment we have an opportunity to bring the Bible to life. Imagine inviting those who have suffered to a banquet, where we can listen to them, grieve with them and help them to recognise the Good Shepherd with them. The Psalm 23 banquet will help you to engage and connect with those on the fringes of your community.”
To gain access to the webinar, please register to attend the National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast, there you can select the Bible Society webinar and an email with joining details will be sent to you.
