World Refugee Day 2019: We Are Launching Our Welcome Network!

By 20th June 2019 December 19th, 2019 Updates

Often through no choice of their own, refugees are required to move around the UK at short notice. A few months ago Reza, a Christian convert from Iran, was moved to a new city. He wrote to us; “I miss my friends and church community a lot. I feel so alone and depressed”.

Reza was able to be welcomed by a church we knew who was near to him. The day after Reza wrote back excitedly; “John called and welcomed me with his warm voice…you don’t know how happy I am now. Thanks a million!” Since then he has received refugee status and is starting his new life with the support of a caring local church.

Refugees have lost homes, families, communities, jobs. And yet the church can be a place where they find hope again. We are creating a simple-to-use online national referral system to churches across the UK. This will help refugees to identify churches who are committed and equipped to welcome them.

We know that God wants refugees to be welcomed by his Church. Your church has a part to play in this! Please help us to spread the word by sharing this with your friends so that more churches can join in.

Over the next few months, we will be investing finances and resources into this initiative. The more money we raise, the better the system we can build, helping more refugees find a local church to call home. Click here to donate today.

Thank you for standing with us in our vision to see every refugee welcomed by the local church. Please pray for us over the next few months and pray for churches to respond.
