Finding the Peace
Redeeming Our Communities and Welcome Churches Unite to Launch ‘Finding the Peace’ Initiative
In Response to Recent UK Riots and Protests, Initiative Aims to Foster Peace, Healing, and Reconciliation Across the Nation
In the wake of recent riots and protests across the UK, Redeeming Our Communities (ROC) and Welcome Churches are coming together to launch the 'Finding the Peace' initiative. This collaboration seeks to promote peace, healing, and reconciliation in the communities most affected by recent unrest. Through this joint effort, we aim to demonstrate the transformative power of love in overcoming fear and division during these challenging times.
Celebrating Communities and the Role of Churches
We are celebrating the power of community as churches across the UK step up to play a vital role in bringing peace to their neighbourhoods. The ‘Finding the Peace’ initiative is focused on fostering healing and establishing long-term peace, creating communities where everyone is welcome, and where fear is a thing of the past.
About Redeeming Our Communities and Welcome Churches
Redeeming Our Communities (ROC) is dedicated to empowering local individuals and organisations to work together for safer, stronger communities. With a track record of facilitating over 300 ‘ROC Conversations’ in communities across the UK, ROC is uniquely positioned to resource local communities in responding to the recent riots and protests.
Debra Green, Director of ROC says:
Welcome Churches equips local churches across the UK to welcome refugees and new arrivals into their communities. With a network of 1,400 churches, they are prepared to mobilise quickly to meet the needs of those affected by the recent events.
Emily Shepherd, CEO of Welcome Churches says:
Stewardship connects and serves Christian givers, workers, charities and churches in the UK and beyond to steward their resources generously to create impact for God’s Kingdom.
Launching Collaborative Projects for Peace
The ‘Finding the Peace’ initiative is launching a series of collaborative projects aimed at fostering cross-cultural understanding and contributing to the peace and prosperity of neighbourhoods across the UK. In the coming months, we will facilitate initiatives designed to enhance communication, cooperation, and celebration within local communities. These initiatives will include:
Listening Projects: Ensuring that the views and needs of local communities are heard and recognised.
Community Celebrations: Bringing together diverse groups, including immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and other local residents, to celebrate community strengths and promote mutual learning.
Mentoring Projects: Training volunteers to support individuals in need, helping them live in peace and safety.
Welcoming Projects: Equipping communities to extend a warm welcome to new arrivals.
Call for Support
As we respond to the pressing needs of communities across the UK, we are seeking support to help Christians bridge divides and foster unity in their neighbourhoods. The ‘Finding the Peace’ initiative is being designed and implemented at pace, and we have identified over 40 communities at particular risk of unrest that could benefit from immediate support. Your generosity is crucial in enabling more communities to find peace for the future.
Together, we can create a future where communities are united, safe, and welcoming for all.
Finding The Peace initiative is a partnership venture between Redeeming Our Communities (ROC), and Welcome Churches and Stewardship. Our goal is for Finding The Peace initiative to support the work of ROC, 50% and Welcome Churches, 50%.” The fundraiser will be managed by Stewardship with a small fee to cover administration.
