A Message from Our Patron

I am delighted to commend the work of Welcome Churches. In a time when many people are seeking refuge and a place of belonging, the ministry of hospitality carried out by churches across the country is both deeply Christian and urgently needed.

Welcome Churches equips and encourages local congregations to open their doors and their hearts to people who have arrived in the UK seeking safety and a new beginning. Through practical support, friendship, and community, these churches embody the biblical call to welcome the stranger and to love our neighbour.

Having come to this country myself as a refugee, I know personally how important it is to find communities of kindness, dignity, and hope. Initiatives like Welcome Churches help ensure that those who have experienced displacement are met not with suspicion, but with compassion and solidarity.

I warmly encourage churches to engage with this initiative and to consider how they might play their part in offering a genuine welcome. In doing so, we reflect something of God’s generous love for all people.
